DENNISTOUN MILE MARKER

WHERE IS IT? Halfway along Dennistoun's famous Duke Street, across the road from the local Post Office

Half hidden by the hanging branch of a tree, this odd, angular sculpture stands on a wall next to the pavement of Duke Street, directly across from Annbank Street.

The mile marker was commissioned by Dennistoun Community Council to help celebrate Glasgow year of culture in 1990. It was sculpted by Irish artist Jim Buckley, who had previously worked on the Red Gates for the Glasgow Garden Festival two years earlier.
